Collision Sensor for Arc Welding.

Problem defined.

An arc welding torch is attached to an arm via a collision protection device. The collision protection device does not hold the torch rigid in normal operations. The proximity switch design gives a false reset signal. Repeatability and weld quality is jeopardized.

Solution in reach.

Applied Robotics' collision sensor solution is designed specifically for arc welding. It incorporates a metal-to-metal seal that holds the unit rigid during the articulated robotic motion. Air pressure is adjustable to ensure correct breakaway resistance. The collision sensor is reset to the proper position before resuming operation.
